• Once you have downloaded and saved the update file in the proper location, open the web browser again and enter the web address www.routerlogin.net or the default IP 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 in the URL bar. 
• Provide the login details in the login window. The username and password will be case sensitive and they are “admin” and “password” by default. 
• Select the Advanced tab and then select the Admin tab. Now select the router update tab which will further open a separate window asking to select a firmware update file from your system. 
• Locate, select and open the firmware update file from your computer system to initiate the Netgear firmware update process. 
• The Netgear router will take a reboot at the end, so make sure to get the reboot done properly without any major or even minor interruptions as it can damage the firmware severely.
